Øivind Torkildsen: Good communication is central to shared decision-making

Professor Øivind Torkildsen discusses the need for good communication between doctor and patient when making treatment decisions.

"It is extremely important to have good two-way communication between patient and doctors. That’s both to empower the patients and to have shared decision making about which drugs we should choose and which side effects are tolerable for the patient. People are different and they have different risk assessments also, so we have to discuss different drugs and different side effects and make decisions together with the patient."
