Eva Havrdová: The value of a good doctor–patient relationship

Professor Eva Havrdová reflects on the importance of good relationships between people with multiple sclerosis with their healthcare professionals.

"I think the relationship is extremely necessary and extremely important because, if the patient trusts you, then of course the patient will be adherent with the treatment you choose or you discuss with them. The success of the treatment is much more probable if the patient takes the medication, of course. And we now know that we have medication that can stop neurodegenerative processes, or definitely slow them down so that the rate of brain atrophy is the same as the rate of brain shrinkage in health persons."
